Inventor Project Environment
With four designers collaborating on this year’s robot design, being able to share components was an important consideration when setting up the project environment. We set up a shared mode project referencing workgroup directories on a network server. Learning from past mistakes, this year the directory structure was configured prior to any design work. This helped ensure that all project files were contained in the right directories. Since various parts of the robot were being designed concurrently, being able to use parts and subassemblies without checking them out let us use “work-in-progress’ parts within other assemblies to speed up our designs.
